In a nutshell, any motorhome or RV trailer is all about ergonomics, compactness, and utility for maximum comfort possible. These vehicles use a number of engineering solutions both inside and out aimed at enhancing the aforementioned aspects. The leveling system belongs to those mechanisms which are hidden from sight while being crucial for your comfort and even safety. As the name implies, it helps to level a vehicle and provides strong support with the help of jacks thus preventing swaying and rocking. Power Gear is a reliable supplier of such systems and other products for RVs of different weights and sizes.
In 2014, the company became part of Lippert Components, one of the global leaders that supplies a range of products for the RV industry and owns numerous brands and production facilities in the United States, Canada, and several European countries. All Power Gear leveling systems can be divided into the hydraulic and electric ones. In their turn, the former come with or without air suspension components (in so-called air-hydraulic models). Unlike the hydraulic systems, their air-hydraulic counterparts allow for leveling a vehicle in motion, using the air leveling method only.
More commonly, automatic or manual leveling is achieved through the use of four Power Gear leveling jacks that firmly stand on the ground when the RV is parked. Any of them can be adjusted when you press the button on a control module. When you’re about to drive, they retract, and more upscale models even feature a special 'Emergency Retract' mode in which the jacks retract automatically when the motor is started and put in gear.
