On The Go Portable Water Softeners
A major concern in RVing is how the composition of water varies in different locations. In some cases, we connect to the main grid, but in other cases, water comes from wells, streams, or lakes and has different properties. The fact is that we have no control over the chemical composition of the water circulating in our RVs, and if it's hard, it can become quite a serious issue in the long run. The solution, however, is pretty simple and means equipping an RV with a water softener. One trusted company manufacturing such devices is On The Go.
How does this equipment work? Typically, water contains a certain degree of minerals, and we say that the higher this degree the higher the hardness. Minerals include positively-charged molecules of manganese, calcium, and iron, among others, and they can build up in pipes and fixtures. They also reach your appliances, shortening their lifespan. The most common softeners are based on saline crystals with a weak negative charge that attracts and traps metallic particles. Typically, the process occurs within a cartridge whose capacity determines the number of gallons of water that can be softened. Our On The Go portable water softeners feature a capacity ranging from 320 to 1,600 gallons. We also have special test strips to identify the composition of municipal water.
