An RV propane system is meant to make a camper even more practical and comfortable. It provides the heat when it's cold outside, hot water for the shower, fire for the stove or barbecue grills, etc. LP gas tanks can be built-in and portable. The former are known as ASME tanks, as they are usually certified by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Attached to the camper's frame with the help of strong metal brackets, they are professionally fitted and offer a somewhat higher safety level than their portable counterparts. The size and volume of ASME tanks can be quite large.
As for portable, DOT-certified cylinders, they are typically smaller – 20-30 lbs on average, and can be vertical or horizontal. These tanks are often used for summer barbecues, and those RVers who need more gas sometimes connect two or four cylinders together. In fact, many campers without stationary LPG cylinders come with the holders for one or several portable tanks. In our online store, you can find lots of RV LP gas tanks & cylinders offered in different types and sizes, along with a wide range of fittings, gauges, leak detectors, holders, and other products required for reliable mounting and safe use.
