Prevent Water Dagage
I bought from CAMPERiD after initially purchasing from another vendor that was actually much cheaper in price. I received the wrong product from the other vendor and it was such an ordeal to get my money back that I gladly paid a little more to a reliable vendor. That said, this is exactly the product I needed. The roof on the slide on my camper actually slopes slightly back toward the camper when fully extended. This was something I wasn't aware of previously. And until the floor of my slide was completely rotted, I didn't know there was a water incursion problem. So I went to all the hours to remove the slide, replace the floor and re-assemble everything. I was peripherally aware that slide awnings existed but could never really understand why people used them unless they were full-timers. Now I think that unless you can store your camper in a garage or some type of out building, you should have these on your camper. The product comes with just the awning so if you are starting from scratch like me, you need to order the hardware kit also. There are 2 versions of the hardware so make sure and do your research on the Carefree website before you purchase anything. Install is fairly straight forward but it would definitely help to have a friend or 2 around to hold things and double check measurements. Read the section about the pin holding the awning spring for shipping until you really understand it! I lucked out when installing but could have ruined the internal springs if I hadn't had a firm hold on it when I was putting everything together. They also show a lot of space above the awning in all of the pictures for the product, but on my camper I ended up having to tuck the rail that holds the awning up under the rain gutter. Also have some type of waterproof exterior adhesive/caulk to seal around the hardware and any screws.
